Assistant State’s Attorney with the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice
Jaclyn M. Preville is an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice, where she currently serves in the Civil Litigation Bureau representing the State of Connecticut in habeas corpus proceedings.
Since joining the Division in 2012, Attorney Preville has served in a variety of prosecutorial assignments, including as Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney for the Judicial District of Tolland County. During her tenure in the Tolland Judicial District, Attorney Preville prosecuted a broad range of felony cases while serving as Tolland’s dedicated prosecutor for sexual assault, child sexual abuse, child neglect, and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) cases.
As the lead prosecutor on the featured case, Attorney Preville worked alongside investigators from the earliest stages of the investigation through the defendant’s conviction. Through collaboration, persistence, and a steadfast commitment to a victim-centered approach, the investigation culminated in the defendant’s guilty plea, conviction, sentencing, and imprisonment as a serial child predator.
Drawing from her firsthand experience, Attorney Preville will share practical lessons on prosecuting a complex child abuse case, fostering effective multidisciplinary partnerships, maintaining a victim-centered approach, and navigating the challenges of taking a serial child predator case from investigation to conviction.
Attorney Preville earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
