Lisa Murphy-Cipolla

LMFT, CFP-B

Lisa Murphy-Cipolla, LMFT, CFP-B has been working at the Greater Hartford Family Advocacy Center at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center since September 1998. She is currently the Program and Advocacy Supervisor.  Lisa is also a trained Forensic Interviewer and has conducted over 2,200 child forensic interviews. In 2007 she received an award from the Hartford Multidisciplinary Team for “Exemplary Commitment and Service to Child Victims of Crime.”  Lisa currently provides child forensic interviews at Waterbury Youth Services.  Lisa has received extensive training in the area of child sexual abuse and testifies in court as an expert witness related to child sexual abuse cases. Additionally, Lisa has conducted several educational presentations around the state related to child abuse. Those presentations include those to student interns, colleges and high schools, school staff, clinicians, medical residents, child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, DCF workers, law enforcement, and the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney. Lisa is one of the four small group facilitators for the Finding Words course who view and provide input to the students’ interviews.

Sessions

This workshop will provide participants with practical tools for effective courtroom testimony. Through an interactive mock trial based on a real-world child abuse investigation, presenters will illustrate the roles and expectations of fact and expert witnesses. Participants will gain insight into courtroom etiquette, legal terminology, and strategies for clear and credible communication on the stand.
