Audrey Courtney is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect SCAN Department at Connecticut Children’s who specializes in the care of children and adolescents when there is concern about sexual abuse. She began this work over 30 years ago. Audrey has also worked in a variety of settings including primary care, school based health and ten years providing medical care for youth at the juvenile detention center in Hartford.

Audrey is a member of Human Anti-Trafficking Response Team (HART) in the state of Connecticut. As part of the HART Team she helped develop a DCF training about trafficking for Emergency Departments.  Audrey co authored an article published in the Journal of Forensic Nursing titled Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children: An Update for the Forensic Nurse. Audrey was also a member of the pediatric and adolescent work group for the Technical Guidelines for Health Care Response to Patients who Report a Sexual Assault. Audrey holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Anselm College and Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University. Audrey is currently working at CT Children’s satellite clinics in Child Advocacy Centers in Hartford, Torrington and Waterbury providing medical services for kids where there is a concern about sexual abuse.
